Kitsch's Fall Festival

We went to the Fall Festival out in Palatine and had lots of fun. We saw some animals, played in the giant slide and saw some goats and geese. We also went on the haunted trail.

Fall

Tucker is now starting to sit on the potty. He doesn't do anything and it sometimes lasts for 10 seconds but its a start. He is continuing his Muppet obsession from Sesame Street into a love for the Muppet Show. Beaker singing Feelings is hysterical. He wants to see Animal play drums over and over and over...

We are taking an actual music class now that is more structured so we'll se how it goes. He knows the Children's Museum is out the door so hopefully he will agree to staying in the small room since there are instruments.

Tucker and Cruise Night

Last week we went to the second to last Cruise Night in Forest Park. Chad drove the 55 Chevy wagon over and we took the kid wagon. There was a semi delivering beer which was blocking our view of the parking lot and Chad pulling the car in. Tucker said "stupid truck in way". I was trying not to laugh since I KNEW I heard him right and I said that's a BIG truck in the way. Now he's heard me tell the story quietly and he knows it's funny. Then when he and Chad got home he said "Oh no ... oh no, 55 GONE!" Chad had to laugh and tell him it was okay since it was still at Cruise Night and he would get it later. The next morning he put great effort into a sentence and he said "55 out back- see it over there." Tonight is the last Cruise Night so I don't know if he will come up with any more sayings. Usually he just looks at people and gets shy now. It's his new thing- quiet and shy.

Summer

We haven't posted in a while, sorry!
We take less pictures now that the boy is always on the move! He does slow down and lay on the floor occasionally but it only lasts for about 10 seconds. Sometimes I think he likes the car and high chair since it gives him a excuse to finally sit down.

He LOVES going outside, of course. This first shot was at a baptism party.
Tucker loves his water table and baby pool. He has a tiny basketball net also. We now take walks without a wagon or stroller down the street so luckily it's a short street since he has little legs.

He is starting to put two words together which is exciting. He can say "Grandma (or whoever it belongs to) house". He is quite the director too. He told me to rock him one night before bed.

The Conversationalist

Tucker has learned a lot of words recently and continues to learn more every day. I have a whole list written down and he can handle a lot of two syllable words. He has also just started to put two words together since he said "car keys" today! It's nice that he can answer some questions now though if he is crabby the answer to everything may be "no". He is still mainly obsessed with the dog, Gracie, our cat Nate (he finally says "kitty" since all cats were Nate until the other day), the neighbor dog, Brandy, plus the moon and cookies. He can identify the moon when its visible during the day even. He also loves to talk about the neighbor, Dan (all men are Dan or Dada), all blond women are "Mama" and now he can say "Jaima" (his aunt) which seems to mean brunettes. It's too funny. And being that he is a boy, he loves to say truck, car, plane, and his new ones are "cycle" for motorcycles and bicycles, and "copter" for helicopters. We also beep when the wagon goes backwards like the trucks in the alley.

For those of you that haven't heard, he now has a favorite toy and it's his blue bucket. He also says "bucket" and "shovel" a lot. We have to make sure he sleeps with it now since it's his teddy bear. It's funny when he is crying for it. Yeah ... real cuddly ... a bucket.

First trip to the Emergency Room

In case you haven't heard by now, Tucker got his hand stuck in a metal can and cut his finger pretty good. Libby took him to the Emergency Room and he got 4 stitches. He was a real trooper while waiting the almost FOUR hours in the wonderful Oak Park Hospital. He got the stitches out a week later. He still is kinda favoring that hand, but it is fine now.

Random stuff

First up we have Tucker hanging out in my old rocking chair. He loves it. He pushes it around and then sits in it backwards and rocks. We've caught him standing up in it too. He's a little daredevil!

Next, a quick shot of him sleeping on the way over to the shop one day.

Finally standing at the back porch watching Gracie. Cute!

Snow day!

Chad built a sled hill after that last big snow. Here Tucker is trying it out, and also playing with the new sled, that was mine when I was a kid.

Chad and Tucker took a ride in the wagon since we didn't have a sled. Tucker likes the wagon rides.

New Words

Tucker now says "down" all the time. I'm not sure he always understands the meaning but its fun to say. He says "Hi" and "Bye" and "shoe". He also starts obsessing over Gracie holding her bowl and saying what sounds like "see see gee see see" over and over! It's hilarious since he is close trying to say her name. Gracie was outside today so she wasn't far away.

Reindeer and movies

Here we are at an Indian restaurant across the street from the movie theater. And Tucker is a little late, but he loves his reindeer antlers now.

Toddler

Here are a few pics of Tucker on the move, carrying his tub of blocks around and being impressed by my mad skills as a block tower builder. And also roughhousing with Francis, and with our sorta matching jackets.

Tucker the Toddler

Tucker is a now a new man: a toddler! He walked two steps in a row on Christmas twice and then walked 5 steps to my friend, Tanya! He really got the hang of it that day and it happened to be my birthday (Dec. 29) so that was really cool. He gets better at walking every day and falls a lot less already. Now we go places and when he gets out of that stroller he is a walking/trying to run maniac. We go to the libraries and he could care less about books while we are there, but he has become obsessed with them at home.

The other great story was when I was showing Tucker his farm animals and asked him "what does a dog say?", and I totally did not expect an answer and he said "ruff" (it may have been woof). I was SHOCKED and almost fell over! He says it all the time every since then. He also LOVES Gracie even though the feeling may not be mutual and chases her around the house! She has to spend a lot of time in the kitchen which I feel a little bad about but it's for her own good. We put up a gate and call it the "safe zone". She will run to it when she's had enough torture. Tucker also loves to admire the dog, Brandy, next door and looks for her during his dinner. He points and says "Woof" when she comes outside.

It's also a lot harder to take his picture since he is a blur. They may all be taken while he is in a stroller or high chair now! We will post something.

Christmas Day

Here are pics of Christmas morning. Tucker had fun putting the bow on my head. He really liked the hardware truck I made him. He got some cool cds, some cool clothes, bathtub toys and a family membership to the Oak Park Children's Museum.

Christmas Eve

Here are a couple pics from Christmas Eve with Bud, Kelly and Rob.
